If so, did you know that there is a twice yearly booklet available, with articles written by and about ex-pupils. If you're interested, just send a cheque for £1.50, made payable to "The Heanorian," to Kimberley House, Church Lane, Morley, Derbyshire, DE7 6DE. |

replied on: 12/7/2004 2:48:19 PM Already subscribe-went to a reunion of Heanor Grammer school pupils couple of months ago-for the class of 54-50 years since they started at the school-it was for my husband's year-I am so much younger!!!! Mr Stone our old headmaster was there!-also Mr jerome (science)and he looked exactly the same as when he was at school What I found interesting-Mr Stone used to have a letter from George Bernard Shaw(yes-THE one) on his office wall which was written to some students at the school-it has apparantly been sent to Matlock for safe keeping-thought that would be good if you could get a copy for the Heritage Centre! Maybe Sheila Randall could help?? |

replied on: 1/19/2005 4:01:45 AM Did Mr Jerome have a west-country accent? If so, he taught me French, which is the main reason why I packed up French and did German instead! The Mr Jerome I remember always walked to school up Mansfield Road, though I never knew where he lived. (PS - I can now speak French, but know no German at all!!!) |
