replied on: 3/14/2005 10:11:30 PM I'm currently in correspondence with Hugh Potter, the author of "The Cromford Canal" (if you are at all interested in the canal, it's an absolute must!), as the Society has acquired a couple of photos that their Society hasn't seen before. It is important that we all help each other out like this - we're all in the same business, i.e. preserving our heritage! |

replied on: 2/4/2006 6:54:00 AM This weeks Eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser 3 Feb 2006-has a picture from Hugh Potters book of Lock Cottage and Toll House Langley Mill. Although in good condition it was demo;ished by British Waterways in 1963 and bulldozed into the lock chamber. Permit books that recorded the passage of boats were stored in the building-some were rescued from a bonfire and donated to Derbyshire Record Office. I feel I should remember this building (Vic Hallam's chimney can be seen in background left. Maybe my memory cells will "recharge" and I'll remember it!! |
