Can anyone else remember the post sorting office on the main road of Marlpool. I'm sure it was positioned where the bungalows are now situated. Does anyone else have any clues when it was demolished.

Thank you very much Peter, a lot of people say they cannot remember the sorting office. But I do and also the Vic Hallam wharehouse behind it, we used to climb the gate and play in there when we we're kids.

Was V. Hs Warehouse the timber-yard which stood to the far rear of the Church?

I used to go by the yard occasionally and the smell of the tree/plank resin was a wonderful odour, though the sounds of the screaming saws was off putting.

The location of the old sorting office is correct, and Peter, I remember you father very well. He worked alongside another late friend of mine who was Arthur Lucas; I am sure he must have mentioned him, Arthur's son in law took over the manager side of the office, but retired due to ill health; he died three years ago, and his name was Walt Worley. Am I ringing bells for you?

Your father was well respected, but like many others now part of history, they can be remembered though pages like these..........
