replied on: 11/20/2004 6:12:44 PM My father sorted and delivered mail from the sorting office at Marlpool and it was were you say.Dont no when it closed to move to the top of Hands Road but when Marlpool church burnt down they where on the scene before the Fire Brigade |

replied on: 1/4/2005 2:40:23 PM Was V. Hs Warehouse the timber-yard which stood to the far rear of the Church? I used to go by the yard occasionally and the smell of the tree/plank resin was a wonderful odour, though the sounds of the screaming saws was off putting. Azzabuv. |

He worked alongside another late friend of mine who was Arthur Lucas; I am sure he must have mentioned him, Arthur's son in law took over the manager side of the office, but retired due to ill health; he died three years ago, and his name was Walt Worley. Am I ringing bells for you? Your father was well respected, but like many others now part of history, they can be remembered though pages like these.......... |
