I know they had quite a few neighbourly friends and acquaintances in the area from the early c.1910 to around the late 1960s, so hopefully......? Their address, from c. 1910 to the early 1920s was - 108, Ray St; -. Henry Hardy, b. 1880/1. d. 1923. Buried - Marlpool Cemetary. Dinah Hardy nee Wragg. b. mid 1880s. I have two conflicting burial plus also her age dates from two official sources. Buried possibly 1956, at Marlpool Cemetery. Louisa Catherine Hardy - Mother's name = Betsey Saxton, b. 1900. d. 1997, Stainforth, S. Yorks. Buried at Stainforth. Mary Elizabeth Hardy, b. c.1908, d. 1992, Stainforth, S. Yorks. Buried at Stainforth. Henry (Harry), son. b. c.1911. d. Derby. Buried - Marlpool Cemetery, 1949. Kenneth, second son. b. 1923. d. Marlpool. Buried - Marlpool Cemetery, 1990. Kate, daughter. b. 1916. d. Algarkirk, Lincs. 1996. Buried - Algarkirk. May, b. 1918. Buried - Marlpool Cemetery, 1920. Kate's Twin Sister. b. 1916. Disappeared 1940. Her name, or anything about her is not known to me. Henry, Dinah and May, share the same grave. If anyone does have any handed-down information, PARTICULARLY of the disappeared twin, it would be of intense interest to me. Finally, to the people, who, over the 'phone, 'Advised' me not to continue digging into the Family past - "Let things be", "Forget about the Family Roots" - "Some things are best left buried" and such Etc. All i can say, is - You HAVE to be Jo King. If anyone does have any information and doesn't wish to reply on site, then please Email me. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 11/25/2004 3:05:21 PM Thanks very much for the search, Sue. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything anywhere much about the Family except the usual generalities. This has been brought about by me being given false places of birth, false Maiden names and false personal ages over the years for some reason. Truely diabolical on someones part. But i'm keeping my fingers crossed. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 12/17/2004 11:10:49 PM I have just started on my Paternal Grandmother's family (PEARSONS from Heanor) and have an Evan Hardy who was born 1876 in Marlpool who married Annie(aka Hannah)Pearson who was living at Breach Road, Heanor on the 1901 census... If Evan is connected to your research I would be interested to know more... |

replied on: 12/18/2004 1:18:14 PM Hi, Samantha, Unfortunately i haven't heard of an Evan Hardy in connection with the Hardy family which i'm trying to fully trace. (i haven't heard a great lot about certain names and dates for some reason). Henry Hardy, who married Dinah Wragg, somewhere around 1908, was born at Marlpool and was 21 at the time of the 1901 Census. and could possibly be the younger brother of Evan? A bit of contemplative information, Thanks. |

replied on: 2/28/2005 8:10:55 PM Hi, again, Sue. Peter (Chamberlain) has very recently come up with info. concerning where Henry and Dinah Hardy/Wragg had their marriage registered at Basford in 1907. But as for knowing where she lived before 1907, well, it's like looking through a never-ending 1891 Census. I'm still trawling through it slowly, but as you know, it covers seemingly thousands of miles. Peter also discovered when Henry's first wife, Betsey Hardy/Saxton died. This was in September of 1903. So that's a couple of mysteries cleared up, up to a point. I'm also seaching for Dinah's Mother (as in the photgraph). I do know her name began with the letter 'E', as it's pinned to the top of her dress in the photograph. In the 1881 Census, 'E' could have been aged around 13 to 16 years of age. If you do find anything along those lines, it would be a tremendous break-through. I think the 'E' could well have stood for 'Elizabeth', as Dinah's first daughter was named Mary Elizabeth. Still tenuous though i know, but better than nothing? But any information from any Censuses would be greatfully received. Take care on those trips to the B.T. It's a strange World out there - especially that area. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 3/1/2005 1:25:30 AM No Diana Wragg listed in the 1901 census. 744 other Wragg's listed in Derbyshire alone. Below is only Wragg listed in Heanor Ellen Dungworth 52 Nottinghamshire, England Wife Heanor Derbyshire George Dungworth 71 Sheffield, Yorkshire, England Head Heanor Derbyshire George Wragg 23 Nottinghamshire, England Nephew Heanor Derbyshire 147 Dinah's in Derbyshire. Were going to have to narrow it down a bit more I'm afraid. |

replied on: 3/1/2005 12:50:25 PM Hi, Sue. Yes, i'd found George Wragg somewhile ago. As for the other two names you've found, they're new to me. I know what you mean about trying to narrow things down a bit. I've located quite a few Wraggs around the Youlgreave area - but, as round here - no Dinah. It's unusual she's not mentioned in the 1901 Census. Abroad.......? Never heard of it though. Thanks for the info. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 3/2/2005 1:59:47 PM I wonder if that's connected with John Hardy, who was the Landlord of the 'King of Prussia' in the 1890s? I also wonder if i have a lost connection with the Brewery? replied on: 3/3/2005 8:43:11 AM Your 1881 CENSUS entry makes Thomas born 1833 and quoting the Brewery information on the Kimberley page it was formed in 1832 so i think it was a generation earlier who started the brewery.Whilst it is not my family looking at Heanor baptisms on the Taghill Website A Thomas Hardy was born to a Thomas Hardy Draper and Mary in 1832. |
