replied on: 1/7/2007 4:09:25 PM At last I have completed the transcription of the letters of the Long family of Draycot Cerne, Wilt., particularly Lady Dorothy Long nee Leche, Philip Leche and Rose Leche. I will send these to the society via the contacts page. Unfortunately there is no mention of Shipley. All of the children of Sir William Leche (d. 1676)seem to have had connections in Ireland. Philip Leche, Hester Miller's uncle, appears to have been on the staff of John Fitzgerald, 18th Earl of Kildare (1661-1707). This would explain why the Derbyshire estate was relatively neglected by the later Leche family. |
