replied on: 1/1/2005 2:47:50 PM Just spoke to my mum about him and he's unfortunatley no relation. She can remember lots of the names on the site though. She lived at my grandfather's photographers shop in the market place. I still have quite a few old 'photo's and Heanor guides. Thanks for your interest. TIM |

replied on: 1/1/2005 2:55:04 PM RE your old photographs Etc. Tim. How about posting them onto the Site, if you've a mind to? If you wish to, but don't know how, contact Robert Mee for help. Azzabuv. P.S. Did your mother know any Heanor Ratcliffe's or Hardy's in days gone by? |

replied on: 1/1/2005 3:36:42 PM That's a good idea, I'll dig 'em up and scan them. I have a picture of my great grandfather outside his shop (John Hunt Florist I think) and one of my grandfather, as a baby, sat on HIS grandmothers knee. I have others of my grandmothers family, outside their house, the Ottewell's I think their name was. I'll ask. Also one of my grandfathers photography shop. Tim |

replied on: 1/25/2005 12:13:58 PM Ernest Hunt's Grocery shop was situated halfway down Thorpes Rd; on the left-hand side as you travelled towards Shipley Park, or Slack Lane. It stands at the junction with Burnthouse Rd; A lot of the Coppice miners, myself included, used to frequent it on our way to/from work, for lots of various small items. The shop itself was small and compact. Whether Ernest Hunt still owned in the 1950/60s, i can't say for certain. Azzabuv. |
