Gascoyne Family

i am a newbie at this family history thing and I was wondering if anyone could help me with a little problem that I am having with me family tree.
My great grandads name was Lathiel Gascoyne living at 22 Nook End Rd in 1901 aged 22, however I cant seem to find earlier records of him (census returns or birth certificates), I have been led to believe that his parents where Joseph and Elizabeth Gascoyne from 37 Nook End Rd.
I thought I would ask if anyone can help with the problem or if they knew of the Gascoynes or the Suttons from Nook End Rd.

Paul

p.s. Keep up the good work

Hi, Paul.
Unfortunately, i can't locate Lathiel Gascoyne, but the following names may help your search?

Richard Gascoyne m. Ruth Fox, at Norton, Derbys. 03/07/1791.

Joseph Gascoyne m. Sarah Williamson, at Duffield, Derbys. 10/01/1808.

Joseph Gascoyne m. Mary Elizabeth Somers, at Derby All Saint's, 04/05/1826.

Burials
William Gascoyne, aged 85, bd. Pentrich St. Matthew, Derbys. 05/12/1856.

Elizabeth Gascoyne, aged 80, bd. Bourne Cemetery, Lincs. 22/04/1881.

Sarah Sutton, aged 32, bd. Heanor St. Lawrence, 07/11/1888.

Thanks Azzabuv for your help.
I have traced most of the Suttons on Nook End Rd, I am just waiting for Birth Certificates now.
Joseph and Elizabeth are both in the 1881 and 1901 Census as Coming from Heanor and Shipley respectively, their graves are listed as being in Marlpool Cemetary (www.genogold.com)
Im just looking at trying to tie up the loose ends.
Does anyone know of a reason that Lathiel wouldnt be registered, the only reason I can think of would be that he was adopted.
I thank you all for your assistance in advance

Either that, or he changed his name for some reason, or emigrated abroad?

Hi Suzard
Thats the family that I believe that he comes from, but there is no mention of Lathiel till the 1901 census.
I believe that this is the family as my Aunt says that her great grandfather was Zebedee Gascoyne.
Many thanks

Zebedee is on 1901, but I cant find any b m d for him or Lathiel-perhaps they never registered their children??
Noticed on 1881 there is an Oskia??? wondered if this was mistranscribed and his name could have been Oscar??-Its worth trying variations of Gascoyne-Gaskin is one -as very often names are written wrongly even on church records.
Have you tried 1891 census?
A very helpful site is Rootschat -they do free look ups
I have found a Gascoyne marriage in Alfreton-none of your names, but you never know they may be some relation to Joseph or may fit in as your research goes further back
GEORGE CLARK b. 8 July 1826 Somercotes married CATHERINE GASCOYNE on 25 Aug 1850at Alfreton General Baptist Chapel. Catherine was the daughter of JONATHAN GASCOYNE and CHARLOTTE MOUNTING. GEORGE CLARK died 26 May 1902 in Provo Utah USA

I've checked the 1891 Census for the Tag Hill and Nook End area, but so far none of the Gascoyne's show up.
So will continue checking the other local areas ASAP.

Thanks everybody for all your help.
I think I may have located them in both the 1871 and 1891 census.

1891 reads
Gascione Elizabeth Wife 57
Gascione Joseph Head 59
Gascione Salathiel Son 17
In Denby :o)
Names match, there seems to be 5 years different in the age.
My mum thought his name was Salathiel.

1871 reads
Gaskin Aaron Son 5
Gaskin Anne Daur 13
Gaskin Betsey Wife 37
Gaskin Elizabeth Daur 11
Gaskin Osrick Son 2
The dates again seem to match up

It may an error in the transcribing, but it seems to me like my ancestors had a real problem with names lol
