My classmates from memory Strop - Dennis Aistrop,Noka White ,Malcolm Buxton ,Donald Sloman,Pat Prince ,Terry Childs, Trevor Brown,Glyn Parker,John Price,Trevor Wright,Colin Birks,Colin ?Baines,Trevor Stapleton ,Graham Waterall, Michael Fletcher ,Derek and Brian Goostrey ,Tony Garrett ,Michael Marriott,Brian Orchard.Another teacher I just remembered was Mr. Gough I can't think of his first name , but I seem to think that he also was Welsh .I can't recgnise E Amott on the photos .I remember getting caned ( deservedly ) by someone possibly Welsh -Taffy Davis ? for dead legging somebody in the playground - 50 years ago memory grey ,was the caning department in the right hand corner of the buildings? replied on: 11/6/2005 12:24:01 PM Hi, DB. I recognise the name 'Aistrop', Gough and Brian Goostrey. Dennis Aistrop had an older brother, nick-named 'Bubbles' (Brian). One of them, or an older brother, was a drummer. Yes, Mr Gough was a teacher, but unfortunately, i cannot place him now. I think Brian Goostrey was a friend of Narvel Annable, who died an untimely death (Brian). Ah, yes. The place of caning pain was on the right and upstairs, in the Headmaster's study - who-ever was in that exalted position at the time. But who-ever was in position, it still resulted in hot-handed pain, justified or not. The least said about our 'Taffy', the better. At the far side of the schoolyard, through the built-over arch-way, was that dark cloakroom - the unofficial fight room for any lads who had a quarrel and sometimes, the quarrel being brought to a close before actually entering the room. What about those dark, dank outside toilets? situated at the top of the small, back play-ground. It was enough to put you off using public toilets for life. Azzabuv. |
