I used to knock about with Andrew Oxley for a while in the late 50s, both of us around 10 years old. The family had visitors from the USA for a couple of weeks. I used to know Billy Roe, from the late 1940s to the late 1950s. At that latter time he would be aged about 17. The Family lived on Fairview, Heanor at that time. I also knew Terry (Tid) Oxley in the mid-1950s and onward. That Family lived down Langley at that time period. When he got married, his wife's parents ran the Expresso Bar on Mundy St; next to the jitty which took you towards the old police station, across from the Technical College. It's all interesting info. Azzabuv.

Do you mean that it was on Godfrey Street, which had the track running down to the old Police Station? If it was on Mundy Street, I don't see how your comments fit.

Barm Brown use to sell barm, Capwells chip shop,Bellamies (think it’s correct)Billy Rice,Billy Naylor,Edie Storers corset shop,Fowlers chip shop,Joe Buxton,Bowers fruit shop,CouncilorBrown,MableSims,Nicholsons. If you know anyone maybe you could put a name to his or her trades or shops that I have not mentioned. And if anyone can explain to me about A picture I saw once, outside Bellamies house I could see an chain or something, like they used to use in lifting boxes or barrels.I know that Harry bellamy used to be the compare at Marlpool club when it was a tin shack.

Azzabuv. no im afraid she didnt, sorry. it would have been late 50's when she moved there (she wasnt born until 1934 and she lived in Kimberley until she married)
