Apparently there were quite a few members of this family who were in the military. I have 3 members of one family killed in WW1 and their father wrote a letter to our Defence Dept about the Shaw relatives before them who had served in British forces from Khartoum to current times ie c 1885 to 1918. Edward Shaw was a hotelkeeper

Rebecca Shaw wife 46 Elizabeth Shaw dau 18 Ellen Shaw dau 15 Ann Shaw dau 13 Frances Shaw dau 9 still living in Loscoe 1881 but I've not looked at Codnor yet! if I find anything I will post it.
