Clara Mount Boys School circa 1958, the game Rum sticker B*m, Finger or Thumb. Two equal teams by number, one team it the other forms up. First one back to the wall and supports second player down in leap frog position. The rest of the team forms up in the order, head at top of legs of one in front and supports himself by bracing legs. Usually about ten or so per side, once formed up the other team leaps on to the back of the other team. The ain is to bring about the collapse of the team by piling as many bodies as possible in one place. If the line held then the cry Rum Sticker b*m finger or thumb came from the team on top. Team above held out finger or thumb and team below had to guess. If they got it right then it was all change, if wrong then it stayed as it was.

I do not seem to remember playing it often but it was one of those that all joined in.

regards Phil

Just the plain and simple titled 'Hide and Seek'. This was/is? both a playground and (night-time) street game.

this game can be played with several players and a mound of dirt or hill. One person is chosen to be king of the castle probably with one potato two potato. then one at a time each player goes up the hill to dethrone the King of the castle. the object is to get the king off of the castle. there is no ultimate winner just a lot of fun.

Why fight someone for a spud, especially after running up a mountain. Let him have it..... let him keep it - so what - who cared?

STRANGE

You and Polly can't fool me. I saw that film too - 'The Hill', with Stanley Baker. Tell Polly, no where clever enough..... again.

I understand that our Street Games article is going to feature in the first newsletter of the coming season (or at least start in that edition). The newsletters is one part of the Society that I don't have much to do with (other than writing some articles), so I'm pleased that the editor has decided that it should jump the queue of items waiting to be published!
