Death of Heanor Motor Pioneer
The death took place on Tuesday at the General Hospital Nottingham of Mr Arthur Cope of Derby Road heanor.
Deceased, who was 78 years of age, was one of the first people to own taxi cabs and buses in Heanor, in which capacity he has served the community since about 1906,being assisted by his son, Mr Frank Cope, and they operated under the name of Cope's Motors.
mr Arthur Cope retired from the business in 1951, and the business is now carried on by Mr Frank Cope, who has been joined by his son, Mr melvyn Cope.
Mr Cope still maintained an interest in the affairs of the business, and was very well known amongst the schoolchildren, to whom he would act as conductor on the school bus, when his health permitted.
Funeral service will be held at the Mount St Methodist Church on Friday at 2.o p.m. prior to interment at Marlpool Cemetery at 2.30 pm
