I've been wombling the net once more and found two sites that may be of interest for canal lovers/historians.

http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/jim.shead/History19.html

That takes you to a brief history of the canal and clicking on "Priestly's Navigable Rivers and Canals" gives more information dating from 1831

http://www.canals.btinternet.co.uk/canals/nutbrook.htm

A little more in depth with a little gem that is was made wide enough to take the Trent barges.

regards Phil

Both excellent sites - thanks Phil. They both have information on all our local canals (as well as many more).
