Can anyone enlighten me? Apparently, the skittles were of plain, unpainted wood, but that is about all I could glean. |

replied on: 9/9/2005 4:57:42 AM Long Alley Skittles has been played in the area for more than 50 years.It spread from Nottingham i reluctantly have to say through the Home Brewery Leagues One of the first Alley's in the area was at the Railway Tavern at Langley Mill actually there were two 1 outside and 1 in a large outdoor shed.Our away Games always needed a bus to the Nottingham Bulwell Arnold Areas and after a night out the 5-olock call to Langley Pit was always a struggle.For many years it did not seem to get popular in Derbyshire and even today most teams are within a 5 mile of radius of the local leagues at Ripley. Azz is it played in your neck of the woods This is with the 9 pins and 3 balls made out of Fruit Wood not Cheeses.There was a passage next to the Nat West Bank were you went to the Heanor Observer Premises |
