Suzard,
Thomas is my 3rd great G/father. His son George married the girl next door but 1 - Elizabeth Meakin. What a tight knit bunch there. Since that takes that line back past the established records, hopefully there are church listings which will give me more details. Do they appear on any reachable web site that you know of?

Sure appreciate all this help

If the marriage of THOMAS BROUGH-Eliza Potter Mar 1874 Belper is your Thomas' 2nd marriage (as we suspect) it may be worth sending for marriage cert-you should get his fathers name from that. Maybe jENNIEPEG will find details of thst marriage?

Here are a couple of possibilities
GEORGE BROUGH b abt1779 died 1867 at langley Mill Occ F.W.k.
possibly this is his baptism
GEORGE BROUGH baptised 7 Mar 1779 at Denby son of Christopher/Hannah Brough

WILLIAM BROUGH b abt 1791 died 1869 Langley Mill
ABIGAIL bROUGH b abt 1796 died 1864 at langley Mill wife of William

James Brough b. 1789 died 1863 Heanor

My only Brough "connection" is not really a pleasant one -Thomas henry Brough (omnibus proprietor) of Burnthouse road was the driver of the car which accidentally knocked my Great Uncle frank off his pedal cycle as he cycled home from work in 1934 Uncle frank died almost instantly. It must have been a terrible time for Mr Brough too-he sold his bus company a couple of years after that.I have the newspaprer report if of any interest to you.
I also knew a brough family from Queen st langley Mill-they had one son Peter-Mr Brough was an Inspector for the MGO bus company (1950's, 60's)- they were a lovely family

although it says Belper, its in the Belper district this covers a lot of places and loads of churches! so it would be better to order the certificate.

Heanor Baptisms
Eliza Brough Geo & Mary 6th May 1800
Ann Brough Geo & Mary 29th Sept 1800
Mary Brough Geo & Mary 10th May 1801
George Brough Geo & Mary 12th Jan 1806
Phobe Brough George & Mary stocking maker 2nd Dec 1810
George Brough George & Hannah 29th April 1812.
