I have visited Heanor lots of times over the past 5 years and i think its a lovely little town. The locals are friendly and the town itself has lots of character. We would like to come over again next week, and would like to stay in one of the local pubs, but i dont know iof they actually do B&B!! can anyone help? Is there somewhere that you could recommend? Thanks for your help.

Does anyone recommend the 'Market Hotel' on Heanor Market?

Thanks for your help guys :-) I rang around all the pubs last night, and none of them do B&B! which surprised me a little! I know that there are hotels in surrounding areas! but we just wanted to dump the car and stay local. Last time i was there, we were talking to the landlady of the Market Hotel, and she said that it was something that they were seriously considering, but when i rang yesterday! the guy said that he had only just taken over. I posted on here because i thought that somebody might know someone that did it privately, i.e. a Guest House or something. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks yet again for your help.I will try one of them later. The person we are going to see! has got plenty of room to put us up!! and hes been inviting us over for months!! and we now have a free weekend in order to do that and we cant get a hold of him!! hes either lost his mobile or its broken, and hes also just moved house! so we havent even got his new address! other than we know its Heanor. Hes been ringing us every week for ages! and now that we are coming over this weekend, we are desperate for him to ring and he hasnt. So we are just going to come over anyway!! because i have an old school friend that i would like to see, she lives near a pub called Memory Lane?? i think the pub is opposite the Coronation pub!! I cant remember but i think thats what its called! so much as we want to see my partners cousin (who is being very elusive at the moment) we also have friends in Nottingham, so it wont be a wasted journey. I mentioned earlier that i just love the place, and we have always been met with hospitality from everyone we have met on previous trips, so i am looking forward to coming over on Fri.

Success at last!! We had a call last night from our elusive friend, and he has in fact moved to Langley Mill, so we are going over there on Fri for the weekend. If you are in one of the local pubs in Heanor over the weekend, and you see a couple of Scottish strangers!! come over and say hello and i will buy you a drink.:-)

Hi Guys i hope you are all. We had a good weekend in Derby and in the end we stayed at the Moss Cottage Hotel? it was really nice and apparently its the only hotel for miles. I done loads of shopping in Nottingham and spent some time in Ripley and of course Heanor, i just love that place, i find everyone so friendly and helpful.

Hi, Patsy. It was once a charming, quiet and warm pub. Now-days, it's been converted for quite awhile, to a typical glitzy, plastic and glass shambles, for the benefit of the hordes of passing motoring tourists.

Another piece of old History gone.

Living so near the country! we tend to have nice wee country pubs, with the original old beams and log fires etc! and they are so full of character, and some of them even have bacon badger on the menu.

Well blow me. Here i was doing a tretise of Einstein's 5th, concerning the reciprocation of the Pi/r'd squared 50th Prime number sequential ratio, (Dittod as a block number sequester without infinity values, naturally) to place in Ken's erstwhile light-hearted fun column and..... and i see everyone's been having a swinging time.
Despondency rules, nay - overwhelms.
