replied on: 2/22/2006 2:35:56 PM i always thought chad valley was an american firm, but thanks to your information pete i checked it up and it started in birmingham as a book company.i was wondering if they made the hand held viewers that were popular in the 60s and 70s,the ones that used the round slides and you had push a lever down to view the next picture as you held it up to the light. |

replied on: 2/22/2006 3:37:38 PM Does anyone remember the metal frame thing that had a spinning device. You had to move the metal frame up and down and then the separate spinning bit would move up and over the frame. Could keep going for hours when you got the knack of it. |

replied on: 2/23/2006 6:51:43 AM quote: No - not meccano. This was a wire frame that bent back on itself and the part that spins had a metal stud type of thing on each side. These balanced on the wire frame and with the appropriate wrist movements, the extra piece moved up, over, down and back again. balance/gravity/whatever....surely you remember? Dont know what they were called. |

replied on: 2/23/2006 3:08:55 PM quote: Nope! The frame looked like a big hair clip bent over in the middle. The moving part was like a bakalite wheel with these metal stubby things on each side. Driving me crazy now - hope somebody remembers! FC |
