replied on: 7/11/2005 5:34:01 PM PatsyAnn, P.L.J. alive and well and living on Morrisons shelves-approx £1-50- which I didn't think was expensive 'cos it wasn't cheap to buy in yesteryear. I used to have a cup diluted in warm water-and for some reason only known to my mum, twice a week I had to sak my elbows in it! No, Azza, before you ask, I didn't have to drink it afterwards! |

replied on: 7/12/2005 6:01:12 PM Re bubble car, Tony Kowalski had a Messerchmit (almost there with spelling) one in the 60s. The family lived at the junction of Roper Avenue and Frederic Avenue. I think the most we had in/on it was 6 and we belted round the Shipley back roads one Saturday evening. Strange things you do when you are in your teens but its all change now. regards Phil |

replied on: 7/12/2005 7:06:01 PM my cousin had a messerschmitt car,red i think.if you look at one now it looks a bit like crazy frog from the front.he used to drive from clifton notts to elmsfield ave and when he wanted to go back, we had to pick it up turn it round because of no reverse gear.still fun though, with the cockpit windows. ice |

replied on: 7/14/2005 3:47:36 PM They are now called "Community Officers" and haven't quite the same power of the regular officers! You can pick 'em out bt their yellow jackets. What about "Hedgehog oil"-used for sore gums, and snowcreme for chilblains.? Also deep heat treatment called "Fiery Jack"-my Dad used that and read that if you suffered from cold feet you could put a little smear on your feet and your feet would keep warm-Dad suffered from really cold feet, so he lathered his feet in the stuff just before he went to catch the bus from Heanor to Ilkeston-upon arrival in Ilkeston he hopped off the bus and rushed to the toilets where he had to stand in the loo to cool his burning feet!!!! |
