replied on: 7/11/2005 4:52:11 PM 'The Army Game' of hut 29, Nether Hopping transit camp. Mediocre at times, this comedy show finally launched several comedians on to greater things. Fun to watch, at times. Cpl Springer - Michael Medwin. Pte 'Excused Boots' Bisley - Alfie Bass. Pte 'Cupcake' - Norman Rossington. Pte 'Popeye' Poppelwell - Bernard Bresslaw. Pte 'Professor' Hatchett - Charles Hawtrey. Sgt Major Bullimore - William Hartnell. Major Upshot-Bagley - Geoffrey Sumner. CSM Claude Snudge - Bill Fraser. Pte Bone - Ted Lune. Cpl 'Flogger' Hoskins - Harry Fowler. L/Cpl Ernest 'Moosh' Merryweather - Mario Fabrizi. Pte 'Chubby' Catchpole - Dick Emery. In truth, the comedians were far, far better than the show, enbling them to go on to far better comedy shows. From 1957 to 1961. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 7/11/2005 5:07:02 PM 'The Beverly Hillbillies'. Who doesn't remember this great comedy classic? Jed Clampett - Buddy Ebsen. Granny/Daisy Moses - Irene Ryan. Elly May Clampett - Donna Douglas. Jethro Bodine - Max Baer Jr. with many more fine actors/actresses. A great show - mostly. Program duration from 1964 to 1970. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 7/11/2005 5:16:13 PM The one and only - 'Bewitched', with Samantha/Serena - Elizabeth Montgomery. Darrin, the long suffering husband - Dick York, of the rubber face. A great tragedy when he died. The show was never the same again. Also, not forgetting the Old witch herself, Endora - Agnes Moorehead, with a fine supporting cast. It ran from 1964 to 1972. replied on: 7/11/2005 5:21:01 PM 'Billy Bunter - Greyfriars School'. It was comical at the time, around it's launch, but looking back since, -How did this patheticness ever get on the screens in the first place? Tastes MUST change and they did. Billy - Gerald Campion. Enough IS enough. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 7/11/2005 5:33:59 PM 'BONANZA'. A great Western program at first, Ben Cartwright - Lorne Greene. Little Joe Cartwright - Michael Landon. Eric 'Hoss' Cartwright - Dan Blocker. Another sad loss when Dan died. Later on in the show, another 'son' arrived on the ranch, all dressed in black and he really was so dull and boring. He kyboshed what was left of the show. Where did they find him? The show ran from 1960 to 1973. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 7/11/2005 5:44:37 PM 'Boots and Saddles'. An adventurous 'sock it to 'em' (Indians) Western with the Fifth Cavalry. Great Wild West views/scenes and all action all the way. 'Sock it to 'em' Capt' Shank Adams - Jack Picard and plenty of back-views of the 'it's suddenly dawned on them Indians'. Good fun and good action scenes, plus, unusually, a good story line too. Nearly made me volunteer for the cavalry. From 1958 to 1960. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 7/11/2005 5:54:26 PM 'Bootsie and Snudge'. One of the best comedy shows of that era. Here Alfie Bass and Bill Fraser advanced from the 'Army Game' incident. A show not to be missed if possible. Bootsie Bisley - Alfie Bass. Claude Snudge - Bill Fraser. Old Johnson - Clive Dunn. These were the main characters of a great comedy show. Alfie Bass later played the 'Fiddler on the Roof', then seemed to disappear into obscurity? A shame. The show ran from 1960-3 to 1974. Azzabuv. |

replied on: 7/11/2005 8:43:10 PM 'The Buccaneers'. The swashbuckling Pirate adventures in the Caribbean aboard the good ship 'The Sultana'. Capt. Dan Tempest - Robert Shaw. The rest of the cast were a bit on the mediocre side. A few good stirring yarns. Televised 1956 to 1957. Durable........ Azzabuv. |
