replied on: 9/3/2005 12:45:49 PM Not as early as the others, but my favourite radio programme of, say, 30 years ago, was "Im Sorry I'll Read that Again." And the sketch I remember most was subtitled "Icecubes Down my Cleavage." It's proper name - The Colditz Story! (I was only a kid at the time, and found it hillarious - but then I still do!!!!!) |

replied on: 9/7/2005 11:41:06 PM Jimmy Clitheroe At his full height he was 4ft 3in, and played the naughty schoolboy from 1958 to 1972 in the “Clitheroe Kid”. I don’t know if it was siuated in lancashire or not, but I do think most references relate to lancashire,his main partner was Alfie,played by Danny Ross. Danny died young at the age of 45 of a heart attack in the 70s,in fact the female who played his sister Susan is the only surviving member of the original cast. Can anyone else remember listening to the show or even watching the television version,which I don’t think took off.He sounded like a schoolboy, but close up on the tv,he look quite old. |

replied on: 9/7/2005 11:53:38 PM I remember The Clitheroe Kid on the radio-was it on about midday on Sundays-I seem to remember on Sundays listening to Clitheroe Kid, Billy Cotton Band Show (with Edmundo Ross??)Pick of the pops -Alan Fluff Freeman (4pm) and then the dreaded Sing Something Simple. Can anyone remember any radio shows with David jacobs? I only remember Juke Box Jury, but that was on TV! |

Some of his many Radio Programs include Housewives Choice,Journey into Space,Pick of the Pops,Any Questions? Any Answers?(Ran for Seventeen Years),And Melodies for You(Ran For Twelve Years)He still hosts a program on Radio 2 Every Sunday called the "David Jacobs Collection"at the age of 80 |

replied on: 9/8/2005 1:50:13 PM I once had an Edmundo Ross Mambo band set!!!!! Now I remember David Jacobs progs -especially Housewifes choice! He's not doing bad to still be on air-it must be his 3 marriages that have kept him going!! |
