Thanks to all replies,
I do already have the information on John Slack, Sarah Fletcher. Now need to confirm parents- Possibly: Joseph Slack (1780)& Sarah Parkin (marriage 18 April 1808).
Also parents of above Joseph- Possibly: Samuel Slack (abt 1743) & Sarah Hicking (marriage 08 March 1768.

Thanks aqain for your help and for information from Jenny. According to the baptisms the parents of Joseph(1780) were not Samuel Slack and Sarah Parkin. More likely Samuel(1761) and Elizabeth.
And the parents of Samuel would be Joseph and Mary. -Possibly Joseph (1752) and Mary Birkumshire.- married 22 August 1752 at West Hallam.
Can anyone confirm or add any more to these facts, please?

Can anyone help? I'm still looking for the parents of John Slack, born 1790 at Heanor. He married Sarah Fletcher July 19 1819 at Heanor. Sarah Fletcher was born 1799, West Hallam, and was the daughter of Robert Fletcher and Elizabeth Woodward.

On the Ripley & Pentrich Non-Conformist Register there are 2 John Slacks. One born 1789, son of William, the other born 1790, son of Thomas. Either could possibly be the husband of Sarah Fletcher, married to John Slack, at Heanor in 1819. Is there any way of finding the true Father or is the end of the line where researching this branch of the tree is concerned?

This problem is now solved more by sheer luck than judgement. I found John Slack, a 'brick-maker', and Sarah, on 1851 census. Then found Thomas, a 'retired-brickmaker'. It would make sense that father and son had the same occupation. The other John's father, William had his occupation, on John's baptism records, given as 'collier'. I now have the parents of John as Thomas and Millicent and have found a marriage for Thomas Slack and Millicent Waters, on May 27, 1795, at Pentrich. The only record I can find for Millicents birth gives the date 20 October 1791, Pentrich, but this is only 4 years before the marriage. Can anyone help on this please? Also, if this is the correct Millicent, further information on her family would be gratefully appreciated.
