| RMMee Moderator | How to register on this site posted on: 1/19/2003 4:59:56 PM To be able to post items to the site (and I do hope you'll try, as the more users we have the more useful it will be) just follow these steps. 1. Click on Register (on the right of the screen) 2. This takes you to a screen where it asks for some information. Enter your username (which can be your real name or a psudonym), a password (you have to do this twice), and your e-mail address. There is a tick in a box which asks whether you want people to be able to e-mail you - it's up to you, but I would advise you to leave the tick there. Finally you have to click in the box agreeing to terms of use, then click on Save Changes. 3. Then go and check your e-mails - there will be a new one which gives an extremely long string of letters and numbers as your Confirmation code. Use the copy facility, (or write it down), then return to Chatarea. 4. Click on "log on". 5. Paste (or type) the confirmation code, together with your username and password, then click on Submit 6. At the bottom left of the screen, under Favourites, there is an add button - click on that. 7. On the next screen, type HeanorDistrictLocalHistory and click Submit 8. This returns you to the previous screen, but Heanor Local History is now listed under favourites, and clicking on that takes you into the message board, and allows you to post new topics, reply to existing topics, etc. I know its a bit of a rigmarole, but it only has to be done the once. You have to be logged on to use all the facilities, but once you are on, you normally stay logged on for some time - if it doesn't show your name when you first come to the site, click on "log-on" - it only needs your user name and password. |
