The car going towards Heanor contained a number of passengers and so violent was the collision that they were hurles across the vehicle, whilst both tram fronts were wrecked. Tram and Trolley bus
replied on: 8/16/2007 10:32:09 AM Last Tram ran 3rd Oct 1932 so The Gazette 6th Jan 1933 "The Tram Track" "A start is to be made on Monday with the work of taking up the tram track. About 30 men will be set on, and work will be commenced at Codnor Gate. men who have been unemployed will be engaged, and although the actual time for the job cannot be estimated, I understand that it is likely to last for something like six months. The whole road is to be relaid and there will probably be new foundations; this of course means that all the present road will have to be broken up, hence the long period which the work is expected to take. This will be very pleasing news to all motor drivers who use the road regularly, for during the last few months it has been in an abominable state. |

Tram and Trolley bus
replied on: 9/2/2007 8:14:40 PM Seen at Sandtoft near Doncaster about 7 years ago or more.Ex Notts & Derby Traction NNU 238 sold to Bradford Corporation 1953. Where is it now I wonder, and what condition is it in? It was parked side by side with a dozen or so other Bradford Trolley Buses, and very hard to photograph.

Tram and Trolley bus
replied on: 10/21/2007 11:09:06 AM My Great Grandad was, apparently, one of the first tram drivers on the Ripley to Nottingham route in 1913-14. Does anyone know if there are employee records existing so that I can find out when he worked for the company? Many thanks |
