replied on: 9/23/2005 12:26:13 AM i,m not sure Robert.i just happened to look at the building yesterday and noticed some of the windows had been smashed, but inside you could see old fashioned cream and green walls.the windows have metal bars up to them, something i haven't noticed before.but where ethel austins new building is,i am sure this was just space. |

replied on: 9/24/2005 7:04:16 AM Winfields was a drapery. Apparently the shop, at a later date (1980's), was called Creations. |

replied on: 9/24/2005 7:33:47 AM Got it! Was Winfields there for a very long time-as I believe that is where Arthur Harriman (of gents outfitters)worked as a young man before he opened his own shop. |

replied on: 9/24/2005 12:32:17 PM That's a good question, Ice. Not that long ago (within the last 15 years), but I think it will need a check of the Ripley & Heanor to get a proper answer to the closure of Godfrey Street. |

replied on: 9/25/2005 7:20:58 AM Hi, It could have been the Coop, it had two big windows and a door set back in the middle and I think you could park at the side. I will have a look at the adverts in the papers for the shops you have named. Jenny |
