As mentioned in the newspaper article, once the buildings were gone, the town's fire engine was based here, in a council depot, until the Fire Station was built on Wilmot Street. The council yard was, I understand, there until the building of the science block in the early 1960's. |

replied on: 6/1/2007 11:36:45 AM Thank you, Robert, that is where we assumed it would be -can remember the science block being built but are racking our brains as to what that area looked like pre building of the science block. Will have to get a few more ex HGS on the case. |

replied on: 6/3/2007 11:09:45 AM Robert-Suzard, where the new heritage building is now,there used be public toilets at the side and i always saw the council workman going behind here with stuff for the stalls etc.i don't know actually when the public toilets were demolished and the new block built. |
