Oats family of Aldercar/Langley mill

Hi evey1 this is my first time on this site and would be very greatful for any info anybody may have on the Oats family living in aldercar around 1900.

Have you got any names -or approx birth years???
Can't find any in Heanor area on 1901 census-some on Horsley and Chesterfield.
I remember being at school with Marion Oats from Aldercar

hi suz well that is a lucky coincidence as marion is my mother.maybe u have some memories of her brothers and sisters -ken,keith,melvin,margaret and phylis.Will be back soon with some births,and deaths etc.. thanks for starting the ball rolling.

thats the fella.the only other info i have on my grandad is that he married Lilly Riley and her family may have lived on bridge street langley mill at some point.

thanx sue for the detective work. I just heard from very old family friend that lily riley he thinks did have a sister named Ada and may have been from eastwood or brinsley but I will look into the loscoe family also to see if he is mistaken.

It might be best to see if you can see a copy of the marriage certificate. That will give you the names of the fathers at least.

I live in Florida so I'm not sure of all the local information. I think you can view the registers (free) at Matlock. I also know you can order the at

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/marriages/

they are 7quid this way.

I also think you can order them from Ilkeston?

You would need the information from above

You might also want to see if there was a writeup in the local paper.

If you order a certificate from Basford or Ilkeston the fee is at least £8-50 in your case it would be Basford for the Marriage Cert but They do not recognise the GRO NO:
system The best option is to use the website Sue has sent and i also find this is the quickest
