Birks family
posted on: 1/30/2003 10:25:57 PM

Hi
Can anyone help !!! I am trying to trace my family tree. The Birks family all lived in Heanor and my grandad Eric Arthur Birks was born and married there and then moved his family here to Reading. I am coming to Heanor next Thursday to look at old records and would be interested to know if there are any Birks still in Heanor.

Thanks

Dawn Birks

Hi, Dawn.
Here's a couple of past burials which may help your Ancestor Tracing in the Heanor area.

Joseph Birks, Bd. 1868, aged 62 - Heanor St. Lawrence.
Hannah Birks, Bd. 1873, aged 66 - Heanor St. Lawrence.
There are also several children, ranging from 14 weeks to 5 years of age if you require the details.
Azzabuv.

In my latest posting I have mentioned the connection between surnames of the families in Heanor and those found in the marriage records of All Saints Church, Ashover. The following may be of interest to you:
John Birks married Grace Clay - July 7, 1661.
Elizabeth Birkes married John Cantrill, pub, August 31, 1662.
Isaac Birkes married Anna Marsh, pub, June 9, 1688.
