I believe that the front row was only 1/- but you got a crick in your neck, plus a constant stream of kids going to the toilet, blocking your view!

Hi..I remember a fair bit from my youth.Lived most of my childhood on Ray Street. There was Brown's shop just across the road from Cox's...A "beer off "..(off licence) @ the top of Ray St. where i used to go get my Grans "Nut Brown Ale " (was no age thing back then )I would even get a sip or 2 for fetching it.Bottom of Ray St. was Sempars shop & Dawsons & Horsleys butchers.I used to go to Saturday afternoon matinee @ the Empire...was sixpence in those days.Ice cream in little tubs from the ice cream lady who stood down the front with her ice cream tray on a strap behind her neck & holding a little torch so she/we could see. I was bought up in a terrace house just about in the middle of Ray St & I swear to this day (umpteen yrs later ) that house was & is haunted. Have seen for myself.
Christmas time all the family visited & we had 2 sittings for Christmas Dinner then in the afternoon "santa " would come visit (again ) with a sack or 2 or 3 , full of presents for all.Us kids knew it wasn't really "santa " & often tried to guess just who it was all dressed up in a santa suit.
I recall the old Christmas tree with its clips in which to put Christmas candles & we lit them too in those days. There is oh so much more I recall from those days gone by & my personal opinion is that they were much happier days compared to todays world. What did we do before the internet & the age of technology...A heck of a lot more than we do now I reckon.
The food was good & healthy.. none of this processed stuff with E this & E that.
I could go on & on but that would take forever, so to save my eyes ( & yours ) I will take my leave for now.
