Can anyone supply me with information on the Martins who lived in Marlpool Lane 1830-1870.
Thomas Martin is my G/father born 1844.

Was Thomas the son of John/Mary?
What sort of info are you looking for ?
3 of John/Mary's children were baptised on the same day at Heanor Church
I have burial dates for 3 of their children who died in infancy.
Do you want details of these?

Hi Ken,
Think this is THOMAS and his 2 brothers all three baptised same day at Heanor St Lawrence
Thomas
Joseph
Alfred
Parents John/Mary Martin Marlpool Collier
Baptised 9/4/1854

seems Alfred died
Burial dates Marlpool Cemetery
all in grave no 3584
Alfred Martin 31 Oct 1858 age 5 son of John Martin died Marlpool Lane Heanor
Unnamed Martin 26 Sept 1866 3 days old son of John and Mary martin Collier died Marlpool
Unnamed Martin 25 Feb 1865 3 days old of John and Mary died Marlpool.
This may be another one
Enos Martin buried 7 April 1870 Age 1 son of John/Mary died Eastwood Grave no 3264

Think this could be John (father of Thomas) with his mother and brothers in 1841
(ages of adults rounded on this census)
Marlpool
Ann Martin 45 Stocking Seamer
John Martin 20 Coal Miner
William Martin 15 Ag lab
Edward Martin 11

These may be baptisms of John and siblings
All children of William and Ann Martin
William occ Collier "of Heanor" for first 4 children, "of Shipley" for rest. Baptism date first - then birth date (where one given)
Mary Brown Martin c.24/5/1818 bornDec 1816
Sarah Martin c.23/9/1832
John Martin c.25/6/1837 b. 14/6/1820
Edward martin c. 25/6/1837 b. 11/12/1831
William Martin c.25/6/37 b.7/12/1821
Mary Martin c.25/6/1837 b.22/10/1826
Henry Martin c.5/4/1825

Seems like John's parents were possibly William and Ann
Will see what else I can find.
If you would like me to have your e mail address- message me.

Hi Sue. you are being a great help to me I am able to tidy up a great many loose ends.

Most of my family moved to Doncaster in the late 1800s-early 1900s to work in the mines. Even my Mother came from Mansfield,so you see it is not too easy finding my relations who never moved to Doncaster.
Hope to hear from you & I will send you my TREE.

Ann Brown

There's plenty online about Coal mines in Eastwood (believe your family were miners. Also lots of D,H,Lawrence information -your ancestors lived on Princes St Eastwood -which runs along the bottom of the St where D.H.Lawrence was born. There doesn't seem to be much on line re BMD's.
A good site is RootsChat- it covers all of the country-it's free and people will do free look ups for you - between all the Rootschatters they have a wealth of information.

I have some research I did on Mary Kirk who lived in Heanor with (among other siblings) brother Samuel-parents Edward Kirk occ1901 Gas Works lab but has different occ each census(m Caroline Wain)Lived 1891 at Lee Lane \Langley 1901 at lacey fields Rd Langley.
Only thing is Samuel would be abt 27 in 1902-easy mistake on marr cert -my grandfather was 36 when he married , but marriage cert says 30!
If you are interested in this info will mail it to you
