Cemetery for Mapperley?
posted on: 5/15/2006 5:32:49 PM

I posted this a few minutes ago but it disappeared into the ether, so my apologies if appears twice.
Showing my ignorance again but can anyone tell me where burials would have taken place following deaths in the earlier part of the 20th century, if the deaths happened in Mapperley, also Stanley?

I have deaths refs. for these -
Joseph Mee 1914
Mary Anne Mee 1932

Also Letitia Day, supposed to have died in 1925, living in Stanley in 1901, but there is nothing on Alan Bloor's site for a burial for her, or her husband Festus Day, no date as yet.

This is where Robert says he had these dates all along! <g>

Patrisia

(You guessed! - no not entirely!)

Letitia Day was buried at Smalley Baptist Chapel. I have a copy of the newspaper item announcing her death and funeral (but not dated.) Let me know if you want a copy, as it lists the mourners, etc.

Fantastic, Robert, I should have known you would know!
I would be grateful for anything you have.
You have my email address, I think; is it possible to send it as an attachment?

BTW, Sharon nee Mee, on whose behalf I posted, has just emailed me that she has a copy of 'Smalley remembered' and is willing to lend it to me!

I had family called Day living in Mapperley too. Are you related in any way to Arthur Day who was married to Betsy and had daughters called Emma and jemimah?

Not as far as I know, sorry.
The only Day connection is with Letitia Mee, who married Festus Day, and she was an offshoot of the Carrington line.

Thank you very much. :-)
I am gradually adding the family lines of Smalley people but it is a rather slow process, though fascinating to see how the Smalley families connect up.
