Both are widowed, but which one is my GGGrandmother, who was Sarah Bullock before marrying Abraham Gillott? If anyone has access to census records of these 2 ladies before they were widowed, please help me out. Thanks p |

replied on: 7/8/2006 8:43:49 PM I have checked the census records for Sarah Gillott. The Sarah born 1823/24 living on Loscoe rd shows up on every other census with a husband called Samuel. Sarah born 1819/1820 shows on the censuses for 1861, 71 and 81 as head of the household. I cant find her on the 1851 census. When did your Sarah marry Abraham? Do you know the names of any of the children? Sue |

replied on: 7/8/2006 10:53:24 PM I can't find them in either 1841 or 1851. I'll keep looking incase they have been mistranscribed. I have a database of the burials for Heanor Cemetery from when it opened in 1857 to about 1900 and Abraham Gillott isnt in there either. Sue |

That Sarah was born in Duffield in June 1823 and therefore would have been barely fifteen on marriage. The Sarah on the census in Tag Hill consistently gives her birth as 1819 and claims a Heanor birth for herself and four children. The other Sarah,married to Samuel Gillott, has the correct birth date June 1823. I think some record somewhere has confused Sarahs and birthdates. p |
