I have heard rumours that this was going on not so long ago, there is a hedge to climb through which takes you to a tunnel where they practiced witchcraft. I am interested to know more about it as 2 old women were sighted walking through the field and climbing into the hedge. Please email me if anyone know anything. |

A further report from the District Valuer on valuation of the price for 2.79 acres of Land forming part of Scarsdale Farm and immediately at the rear of the old colliery yard was received. The Clerk was authorised to take the necessary steps for purchase of land from the N.C.B., comprising 4.42 acres, and of land from Mr. C. L. Hill, comprising of 2.79 acres, for recreation ground purposes. I've not heard of any witches or witchcraft on Charles Hill if I do I will post it! Jenny |

replied on: 12/17/2006 8:59:51 AM When we used to do Cross Country from Heanor Gate School, we used to do the Red River Run which ran to the left of Charles Hill Playing Field (as you look at it from the main road near Loscoe Church) The was a "cave" which we ran through which we were told was a witches' cave. I think it was just something we were told to pacify the run...which was almost certainly devised to kill us all off! I twas less a cave, more a tunnel we ran through. |
