My grandfather ( William Longden ) married the eldest of the Price sisters , whose family kept the Post Office . When she died -- my grandfather married the youngest of the Price sisters ( sarah )I believe the Price family came from the Stoke area ??? All this must have been circa 1900 . |

replied on: 9/15/2006 12:13:25 AM I certainly can't remember a post office in Shipley, but there is one on the 1900 map. As you go up The Field, away from Hassock Lane, it appears that it was the last cottage on the right before the turning up to the railway station. Hopefully another contributor will be able to help more. |

replied on: 10/4/2006 11:32:10 PM Thanks phil --I am waiting for my grandfathers marriage certificate to arrive from Stockport records office . He was married in 1905 to one of the Price sisters , and this would fit into the dates that you have suggested . |
