replied on: 3/10/2007 8:43:51 PM PRIZE DAY AT THE CENTRAL SUNDAY SCHOOLS. The distribution of prizes by Mrs. Mundy at the National Schools took place on January 30th [1880]. Ninety-five prizes were won by the Girls and eighty-one by the Boys. There is no limit made to the number given. Any Scholar who makes the required number of attendances and has been well conducted is sure to receive one. Only eight marks are given each Sunday in the Girls' School while twelve marks are given in the Boys' School. This accounts for the difference in totals. It will be seen, however, that the prizes are given on the same scale. The following were prize winners. GIRLS' SCHOOL. The Schoolroom was filled with children, their teachers and parents. The prizes were given away by the Rector, who gave a short address. There were also, some recitations, songs, and a dialogue. There are one hundred and thirty-two names on the registers of this school, and a good staff of teachers.
