I remember the milk bottles. They were abolished for secondary schools by Harold Wilson, but Margaret Thatcher got the blame when she abolished them for primary and infant schools.

You wern't allowed to swig the milk from the bottle, you had to use a straw in case there was "glass in the bottle" and of course there never was!

[When I first typed this I did a typo and wrote mild bottles. Now that would be an interesting idea!]

Maggie Thatcher was known as "Maggie Thatcher - Milk Snatcher" in playgrounds and staff rooms throughout the land.

The school milk bottles pre-war and sometime after cannot remember when had cardboard caps whith a semi perforated ring in middle you could push it in with your finger and insert your straw.I must have delivered thousands in my time as a milkman STANLEY
