replied on: 10/18/2007 11:41:01 AM This is stretching the memory bank, Robert -had forgotten I knew about it. I'm not sure if it is part of mapperley or West hallam. It is situated between Park hall Farm mapperley and West hallam Crossroads, Simon lane. There is "Northend Cottage" which is not what we would call a cottage, but a very large house. Then there is Northend School -closed many years ago. The school was a private boarding school, I am not sure if it was a "mixed" school, but know for certain Girls boarded there ( a well known film stars daughter is reputed to have attended many years ago. The last headmistress/owner of the school was Jessica(sorry -do not remember surname)- I used to chat to her over twenty years ago and she was well into her 80's then -I think her family owned the school and she carried it on after her parents death. Will have to find more information, as this area seems to have been forgotten. I will post any other information in the Mapperley section So there we are Northend |
