I've recently been provided with a photograph of the Sunday School teachers for the parish church (1887) - subject to copywright so sadly I can't post it.

As part of the new "Parish chest project" for the website the people in the photo's will eventually go into the index so other referances to them in documents (most likly the only ones will be the parish magazine for the majority) I thought it would be worth posting the names here as well to see if anyone knows anything more about any of them (or even if their descendents are still around).

Mr. J Purdey
Mr A Brigs
Mr Gillott
Mr Adams (lay reader)
Mr N Ball (The royal society one?)
Mr B Marchbank (may be a relative of the Marchbanks that have been involved with the tower?)
Mr J Ball
Mr J Turner
Mr T Breresford
Rev E M Robinson
Mr J Shrewsbury
Rev J Hawkins
Mr J B Bailey
Mr Peabody
Mr Weston
Mr Hodges
Mr Stevens
Mr Lilley
Mr E Browne
Miss L Brentnall
Miss Browne
Rev C E L Corfield (that man gets everywhere!)
Mrs Hodges
Miss Hodges
Miss Buxton
Miss Ball
Miss Burton
Miss Turton
Miss Graham
Miss Woodhouse
Miss K Marshall
Miss L Corfield
Miss Eagle
Miss Robinson
Miss Heald
Mr E Turner.

There are another 9 members on it, but sadly they are not listed. Hopefully one of the parish magazines once transcribed will list them, though figuring out who is who could be difficult.

Tempus,

I have Pepperdays/Peabodys/eberdys in my tree... a shame you don't know the initial!

There were millions of them and the world and his wife seem to be related to them including at least 3 people I know personally!

They married into my direct line after she had an illegitimate child, but I have some info if anyone needs it!

Hi

I have a number of Gillots in my tree originating from Heanor. My G Grandmother was Lucy Gillott and her daughter is still alive today. She was born in Heanor.
