It's been open for a while, but to "invite only" members. If you'd like to join this well organised friendly site (same as this really except not just local!) then check it out... http://www.genealogistsxgr.co.uk/ It is a free site and extremely well moderated. It includes a reference section in the form of a Wikipedia, created for members by members. There are facilities to add Gedcoms of your tree and to search by name or area. (which is very useful when looking for very local history) Our website is linked in the Derbyshire section of the Wiki! I'm sure you'll have a great time there!
