I am looking into family history and have lots of 'bits of info' Does anyone know where I can find out about the red lion pub .My mothers aunt ran it for some time and was related to the copes who had a shop in heanor and also provided the transport for outings be that for the cricket club or sunday school thanks pen |

replied on: 1/8/2008 5:49:57 PM as far as I know there were three sisters 1 last name longdon ,who had the corner shop on whysall street 2 last name cope, who had asweet shop /restaurant on market street and 3 last name hicking who had the red lion the time would be around 1917 ,one memory is of a newspaper item in the observer of Mr Hickling choking on some tripe and expiring ! |
