new to the site so i may be asking something that has previously been discussed.! I am looking into family history and have lots of 'bits of info' Does anyone know where I can find out about the red lion pub .My mothers aunt ran it for some time and was related to the copes who had a shop in heanor and also provided the transport for outings be that for the cricket club or sunday school thanks pen

as far as I know there were three sisters 1 last name longdon ,who had the corner shop on whysall street 2 last name cope, who had asweet shop /restaurant on market street and 3 last name hicking who had the red lion the time would be around 1917 ,one memory is of a newspaper item in the observer of Mr Hickling choking on some tripe and expiring !

1923 22nd Feb, H/O Mrs Sarah Ann Hicking aged 73 35 Market St Heanor Mr Walter Hicking predeceased her 26yrs ago on the 6 of the present month, licence of the “Lord Nelson Inn “ Nags Head Inn” “Red Lion”
only copied part of the report.

in 1901 census described Widow
1891c Walter and Sarah living on Derby Road HEANOR Licensed Victualler
Red Lion or Nags Head ?
1881c Walter and Sarah Licencees at Nags Head Note same neighbours in 1881c as in 1891c so assume still at Nags Head in 1891c 1871 Walter and Sarah living Long Eaton
