I am researching the Singleton family from Heanor. I am a direct descendent of Job and Susannah Singleton. Can anyone help with my research?

Hello,

I am a direct descendant of Job's brother Jonas, and have been researching the Singletons for a long time. Please come back to me if you wish to compare notes any further. I am happy to share any info that I may have.

Hi Howard,

I would be very interested to hear what information you have. I know that Job & Jonas' grandfather was also called Job, I have been unable to trace back any further directly from there.

Look forward to hearing from you.

David,

Please e-mail me direct: howard@wood3.demon.co.uk

We can exchange notes and perhaps GEDcom files more easily. Job and Jonas's grandparents were Job and Sarah.

kind regards

Howard

I don't know how far you've now got in your Family researching, but here are a few more Heanor marriages.
One or two of them may be beneficial to one or all of you?

Mary Singleton m. Paul Bramwell - 31/12/1804.
John m. Mary Aldred - 09/11/1818.
Jonas m. Martha Aldred - 09/03/1827.
Jonas m. Elizabeth White - 21/11/1831.

Azzabuv,

Thanks for the input. The marriages you mention are well known to me and fit into the family tree. I have a lot of information on the Singleton family to offer and will share fully with any other researchers who wish to get in touch.

regards,

Howard

Thanks for the reply, Howard. Nice to see your Family Research is continuing nicely.

Here's a bit of Singleton name generalisation. It may lead further?
In the 1881 Census, there were 73 name members residing in Derbys.
The predominant area for the name, was Lancs. at 2644.
If this information is of use, good luck.
Azzabuv.

P.S.
Is old Jack a current member of your family relatives?

Hi, Howard.

John (Jack) Singleton. I used to know him briefly in Heanor around the mid to late 1950s. Apparently he was a bit of a tear-away. He must be in his 60s by now.
I think he lived somewhere in the Commonside area, but not absolutely sure on this.
That's about all i know about him.
Azzabuv.
