Hi, Luce.
There's a recent publication by the Heanor Society, called - 'A Portrait of Heanor and District - 1900-2004'.
On page 39 is a photograph of staff of the old Heanor Hall and also views of the later Technical School, situated on Mundy St; Perhaps it will prove helpful.

great! thankyou so much. this has truely been a fascinating subject. the lives of these people are so intreaging. i feel quite sad that my research is comming to an end. there are a few people i dont think i will ever find. such as florence crawford and cyril allen.the records showed so many records it was impossible for me to work out which was the right one and i can find no trace of maggie and harry fisk at all. but ive been lucky in finding the others. I also deciphered one more name, that of urban w doar. i had previously ignored it thinking it was another swiss student but then i realised he lived at prospect house. my research shows he had a wife lucy and an adopted daughter in 1881.from what i can make out he lived very close to the school. he also lived from his own means according to the census, this i gathered to mean that he was wealthy. is he another famous person in heanors history perhaps?

Glad it's all come to a 90% successful conclusion, Luce.
U.W. Doar - you're certain it's not Soar? That's a name from Heanor's past.
But whatever, i'll see what i can find concerning U.W.D., unless someone pips me to it?

I keep getting so many queries about this particular item, that I am trying to get in touch with Luce to get more info, and possibly to get the autograph book copied.

So, Luce, if you read this, please get in touch again.

Robert

after some further research into clara holbrook (I am going down the line that the book was owned by her) I have discovered that she married in 1897. she married a man called John Arthur frost, who was some kind of manufacturer in langly mill? its a bit illegible to read. she had two children by 1901 emily J frost and Albert H frost.

her sister also married a year later in march 1898. she married Lewis henry lovatt who unfortunatly died in december 1900, leaving eleanor a widow living on her own means. how he died i cannot find out I cant trace his family either.
just thought id keep you updated

John Henry Frost was a "Stove Grate Manufacturer" on the 1901 Census.

Pickersgill and Frost maybe?

John Arthur Frost was indeed one of Pickersgill and Frost.

Louis Henry Lovatt died of pneumonia. He and Ella (Eleanor) lived at a house named "The Yews" at Langley. (I don't know where this house is/was.) He was buried at Heanor Cemetery, and the pottery was closed for the day of the funeral. The local paper didn't cover what led up to his illness - the previous week he had been assisted home in a drunken stupor on a cold and frosty night after an evening's drinking in Heanor. He was left lying in the snow on his doorstep, and from this developed the pneumonia which killed him a few days before Christmas.

Looks like both sisters married well :-)

In the 1901 Census Eleanor is living on Mundy Street with a servant.
