Closure of Langley Mill Police Station
replied on: 12/9/2002 10:55:41 PM

When did Langley Mill Police Station (on the corner of Station Road and Aldreds Lane) close down?

Does anyone know who the last occupant of the station was? And was it used as a "lock-up" till the end, or had it become just a police house?

(I think it was built between 1871 and 1881. At the time of the 1881 census, it was occupied by Superintendent John Hancock, who was the Superintendent of the Smalley and Ilkeston Division of the County force.)
