Langley Mill Co-op Shield, circa 1916
replied on: 10/9/2004 1:46:20 PM

Hi.

I am a new member of this very interesting Forum.

This cought my eye as there are some member’s of my family in above photo!

Both William and Albert Angell were brothers and the son’s of William John Angell (was my great great uncle). William John Angell lived in Claramount Road, Langley.

The lady in the middle of the back row (Dorcas A....,) could possibly be Dorcas Angell, Albert Angell’s wife, sadly I don’t know her maiden name.

William Angell was married to Eshel Huns.

Could this Co-op Shield be for a Co-op Choir or Choral Society?
.
William John Angell and his family were very musicaly talented. He was a Committee member of Heanor & District Choral Union and it is quite likely that his two sons’ were also involved in a choir or choral society.

I found the photograph very interesting

Regards

Tony
