The Poachers Rest
replied on: 10/19/2004 7:19:13 PM

Here's on that will flummox everyone! (Is that a local word, or just one that isn't generally used much these days?)

Does anyone know anything about the Poachers Rest? (This is a query from a new member of the History Society from Australia.)

All that I can say is that "The Poachers Rest was a beer house at the bottom of Thorpes Road adjacent to the Northern Railway Crossing. It was later converted to two dwellings." (Taken from a newsletter of 1976.)
