Boundary Lane
replied on: 11/13/2004 11:09:18 AM Over the past years we spent quite a lot of time in the company of Edgar Parker.I recall him telling me he was born in the building directly behind his shop which he described as being a Quaker meeting house at that time. My abiding memory of Edgar is him telling us,as kids.."Can't sell fireworks on a Sunday. It's illegal!!"But when you did buy them, they never worked anyway! In the window,I recall loads of old 78 R.P.M.recordings of Nazi speeches and other propoganda. He was also an avid model maker, which he displayed in the window.Anyone recall the incident when Edgar called in at the Wellington at Eastwood and asked for a glass of water, and was charged 10p for it...that made the local news! |
