replied on: 12/31/2004 4:12:51 PM Quoting from an inventory dated late 16th century an Iron peele was listed as an implement used in the Bakehouse.I do recall the long shovel type tool used for loading bread into an oven being called a wooden peel still used in some old bakeries today |
