WWII Evacuees
replied on: 3/1/2005 12:41:32 AM

During the Second World War, the area saw quite a lot of evacuees coming to relative peace from the large cities being targeted by the Germans.

Were you an evacuee who was sent to Heanor, Langley Mill, Smalley or surrounding areas?

Perhaps you were brought in as a worker (e.g. at Collaro's). Or did your school get moved to the region (e.g. at Stainsby Hall)?

Did your family put an evacuee up?

Whatever your story, we'd love to hear it.
