Heanor Secondary/Grammar School Teachers
replied on: 3/2/2005 6:32:40 PM

According to the British Academy Fellows Archive, Professor J. H. W. G. Liebeschuetz (b. 1927) (not W. L. Liebeschuetz) was:
"Latin Master, Heanor Grammar School 1958-63; Assistant Lecturer, Lecturer then Reader, University of Leicester 1963-9; Head of Department of Classics and Archaeology, University of Nottingham 1979-92."

Obviously, the Grammar School got Wolf to teach German too, since that was his native language, and I'm sure more past pupils will remember him for that than his Latin, which was his undoubted expertise. He has published several books on Classical culture (and is a very nice man too!). It was not till today that I knew that he ever taught at my old school!
