Ghost story?
replied on: 3/2/2005 7:14:20 PM Opposite the Black Horse car park is Church Farm- for many years it was occupied by Amy-the local fortune teller(she was very good too)-and the doctor used to hold his surgery in Amy's front room a couple of days a week (nothing to do with the story-just a bit of local history to the days when Mapperley had a doctors surgery in the village). Apparantly the house was haunted by a little girl called Mary-noone really knows who she was, but Amy in the middle of a conversation would say "Go away, Mary-don't be naughty. Amy died many years ago,but as when Amy was alive, LITTLE MARY ocassionally appears waving in the upstairs window.A sighting of her is said to be a warning of an imminent death in the family.I know someone who saw her-and it did!!! |
