The Dumbles
replied on: 5/8/2005 6:24:48 PM I've finally got round to walking across the Dumbles and Red River today - absolutely wonderful bit of countryside, and let's hope it stays that way, and that the housing of Heanor does not eventually take over. In case you didn't know, Red River is now formally adopted as a "local nature reserve," and teams of volunteers help to conserve the small area which is apparently famous for its newts. Well worth a visit. There is a website for the nature reserve at http://www.gev.org.uk/projects/wildcommunities/redriver.html |
